Jane Kean ‘Honeymooners’ Star Dies At 90 age R.I.P

Jane Kean, who gained notoriety in the 1960s for starring in the revival TV series The Honeymooners alongside Jackie Gleeson and Art Carney, died on Nov. 26 at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, Calif.

Jane Kean: Actress Dies At 90

The 90-year-old actress passed away after suffering complications from a fall, according to the Los Angeles Times. Her niece, Deidre Wolpert, confirmed her death.

Most will remember Jane as Trixie, the long-suffering wife of Ed Norton on The Honeymooners. “There’s something about the show — people relate to it,” she told the Los Angeles Times in 1991. “People believed the show was real, and that we really were the characters we played.”

But Jane was not a one-role actress. She played many different characters over the span of four decades, including a successful run on Broadway. Prior to The Honeymooners, she appeared in Broadway shows like The Pajama Game and Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter?. Most recently she starred in a two-woman musical that she wrote called We, which also featured Barbara Perry.

Jane’s first marriage to Richard Linkroum ended in divorce. Afterwards, she wed her manager, Joe Hecht. They were together until he died in 2006.

Jane is survived by her niece, her niece’s husband and their two children, as well as her stepson, Joe Hecht Jr., and his son.

The legendary performer will truly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her friends and family in this difficult time.

Deanna Durbin Dies

Deanna Durbin, an actress who rose to fame as a child in the 1930s and 1940s, has passed away. She was 91 Durbin's son, Peter David, revealed the sad news in a fan club newsletter published yesterday, simply saying his mom died a "few days ago" and asking for privacy. He did not provide any further details.

Durbin was born in Winnipeg and raised in Southern California. She was discovered in junior high school, and nabbed her first role in a one-reel short, Every Sunday, opposite Judy Garland.

In 1938, Durbin earned a miniature Academy Award for her "significant contribution in bringing to the screen the spirit and personification of youth."

About a decade later, though, after appearing in 21 films, Durbin retired for good, saying she "hated being in a goldfish bowl."

She penned a letter to The New York Times in 1958 that explained "I was never happy making pictures. I've gained weight. I do my own shopping, bring up my two children and sing an hour every day."

In addition to son Peter David, the actress is survived by daughter Jessica from her second marriage.

Explosion shakes central Prague

An explosion in central Prague on Monday, probably caused by gas, injured as many as 40 people, officials said, and neighboring buildings - including the National Theatre - had to be evacuated.

The explosion, in a building facing the Vltava river just a few dozen meters (yards) from the 19th-century theatre, was heard as far away as Prague Castle about a mile away.

A police spokesman said the blast was probably caused by gas and that there had been about 15 people in the building, which included an office of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and an art gallery.

"We estimate up to 40 people were injured," Zdenek Schwarz, the chief of Prague paramedics, said on Czech Television.

"These are mostly light injuries, cuts, bruises, injuries from glass. We estimate no more than four seriously injured, but this is preliminary information," he said.

An emergency services spokeswoman said some people may have been trapped in the building, which belongs to the Czech Air Navigation Services company.

A Reuters witness at the site saw about a dozen people being treated by emergency services.

"I was sitting quietly in my flat, making coffee. Then there was an incredible explosion. I thought the building would collapse. I looked out the window, and there was only dust everywhere," Venceslava Sehnotkova, a pensioner living in a nearby house, told Reuters television.

The blast blew out some of the windows in neighboring buildings, including Prague's landmark Cafe Slavia. The building where blast occurred also includes the Prague FAMU film school and the social sciences faculty of the Charles University.

A fire department spokeswoman said there were no reports of fatalities.

Several streets around the site were cordoned off by police.

On Sunday, part of a five-storey residential building collapsed - possibly because of a gas explosion - in the northeastern French city of Reims, killing three people and injuring 14, officials said.

Pakistan Taliban bomb politicians' offices, kill 9

 Pakistani Taliban detonated bombs at the campaign offices of two politicians in the country's northwest on Sunday, police said, killing at least nine people in an escalation of attacks on secular, left-leaning political parties.

In first attack, on the outskirts of Kohat city, a bomb ripped through the office of Syed Noor Akbar, killing six and wounding 10 people, police official Mujtaba Hussain said.

A second bomb targeted a campaign office of another candidate,Nasir Khan Afridi, in the suburbs of Peshawar city. That attack killed three people and wounded 12, police official Saifur Rehman Khan said.

Both politicians, who were not in the offices at the time of the blasts, are running as independent candidates for national assembly seats to represent constituencies in Pakistan's lawless tribal areas, where scores of militant groups operate including some with links to al-Qaida. The general elections will be held on May 11.

Pakistani Taliban spokesman Ahsanullah Ahsan claimed responsibility for both attacks, as well as two others against secular political parties in the southern port city of Karachi.

"We are against all politicians who are going to become part of any secular, democratic government," he told The Associated Press by telephone from an undisclosed location.

The Taliban previously announced a strategy to target three political parties, including the Awami National Party (ANP), the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) and the Pakistan People's Party (PPP). All three are perceived as liberal, having earned the Taliban's ire by opposing the insurgency and extremism during their time in the outgoing government.

The onslaught has forced many of the parties to change their campaign strategy and has raised questions about whether the vote can be considered valid if some mainstream parties can't properly take part.

Such attacks have killed at least 28 people in just last four days.

One of the most serious attacks occurred on April 21, when a suicide bomber blew himself up outside a meeting of the ANP in the northwestern city of Peshawar, killing 16 people. The Taliban said the target of the attack was Haroon Ahmad Bilour, whose father, a senior party leader, was killed in a suicide bombing in Peshawar in December. He escaped unscathed, but his uncle, Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, suffered minor injuries.

In the capital, Islamabad, Pakistani officials said they planned to seal the border with Afghanistan and restrict the movement of Afghan refugees on election day.

Officials at the Interior Ministry and the election commission have said that the measure is aimed at preventing terrorist attacks during the vote. However, officials did not say how they would restrict the movement of hundreds of thousands of people spread out across the country or block crossings along the porous border. Pakistan announced similar measures in the past but failed to take action.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief reporters.

The Islamist and center-right political parties have been spared by the Taliban and have been holding big public rallies without fear of being attacked. They largely support peace talks with the Taliban instead of military offensives.

The leaders of the political parties under Taliban attack have said the violence amounts to election rigging. But they have, so far, decided not to boycott the vote.

Kate Gosselin, Bullyville Under Scrutiny For Exposing Haters' Identities Online

Kate Gosselin and the website Bullyville recently encouraged the discovery of the real identities of some of the people who threatened her online.

Always a controversial figure, Kate is now at the center of a war between anti-bully activists and harsh critics of the reality star ... of which there are many.

James McGibney, head of Bullyville (dot com), exposed the real identities of numerous alleged Kate haters on Monday in a move that raised eyebrows.

He also threatened to call the employers of the Kate bashers, including the alleged older woman stalker who allegedly sent Kate more than 72,000 tweets.

For her part, Kate Gosselin is encouraging those who seek to protect her, as they reveal identities of others they said crossed the line while attacking her.

Throughout Monday, as McGibney unveiled the “real identities” of various Kate haters, Kate retweeted messages chronicling the unmasking of alleged bullies.

She previously expressed strong support for Bullyville and others who sought to protect her by revealing “bullies," thanking them for "cleaning house."

Kate recently Tweeted: “yes I proudly support all LEGAL means to bring bullies - who thought they could hide to light - on the internet or in school. @bullyville #stop”

But McGibney made it clear his actions were his own, and rejected the notion that Kate’s encouragement meant she was ordering an operation against her enemies.

“No one encourages me to do anything," the Bullyville founder told celebrity news site Radar Online. "I’m a grown man who makes his own decisions. :-)”

“For the record: Bullyville is going after Kate Gosselin’s bullies for specific death threats and over 100,000 slanderous and libelous posts.”

She clearly supports the mission. When Bullyville exposed one person believed to be dangerous to Kate Gosselin, she re-tweeted their message:

“Dear (name redacted), AGE 56, from (town redacted) Texas. Do you really think that your death threat references to @Kateplusmy8 are funny?”

The image above, showing Kate bloody and impaled, was reportedly a catalyst to start the operation to expose people he believes crossed the line.

But are they going too far in targeting alleged "bullies"?

One person “outed” as a Kate Gosselin hater said:

“He and bullyville put my name, address, phone number, my teen’s email address on (Web site redacted). For what!? Not liking Kate G?"

"Now bullyville is saying he is going to call employers."

"I don’t know what he would say that would get me in trouble but I am a single mom living paycheck to paycheck and Bullyville and Kate G are the real bullies here.

Michael Jackson Wrongful Death Lawsuit: AEG, Singer's Drug Use on Trial

Michael Jackson's addiction to prescription drugs will be front and center in the wrongful death lawsuit against AEG, the trial for which begins today.

The late icon's mother, Katherine Jackson, and Michael's three minor children, Paris, Prince and Blanket, are suing AEG Live for its role in MJ's demise.

Their case rests on the claim that the company negligently hired and supervised Dr. Conrad Murray, who killed MJ with a massive overdose of Propofol.

How is Jackson's history with prescription drugs central to the trial?

According to TMZ, Jackson had at least 19 aliases to score Rx drugs from physicians, and would "doctor shop" to find professionals who would accommodate him.

Doctors and some dentists would justify giving MJ Propofol, a hospital-grade anesthetic, by saying they needed to put him under for minor procedures.

In one case, a famed doctor used a gynecologist's office, run by a doc who specialized in vaginal rejuvenation, to secure the anesthesia on his behalf.

The Jackson family will argue AEG Live had a duty to monitor Murray for what he was doing, even if it means bringing attention to Michael's flaws.

AEG will counter that Jackson is the one who found Murray in the first place and that Murray gave him Propofol long before the ill-fated "This Is It" tour.

AEG has a slew of doctors on its witness list to make the case that MJ's addiction was long established, to the argument clearly has two sides.

Katherine and the children are asking for more than $40 BILLION in damages; AEG clearly feels it can take its chances in court rather than settling.
