Kate Bosworth Checks Out The Punk Collection

Celebrating a fashion-forward affair, Kate Bosworth headed over to the St. Regis in New York City on Saturday night (May 4).

The "Blue Crush" beauty struck a few poses with famed designer Prabal Gurung while checking out the brand new Punk Collection at the Midnight Supper event.After surrounding herself with the latest trends, the 30-year-old actress tweeted, "Such a pleasure to co-host the @Balmain @modaoperandi dinner tonight…”

The edgy collection will hit its biggest showcase on Monday evening (May 6) at the Met Costume Institute Gala, also in the Big Apple.

Victoria Beckham does a lot of things well -- fashion, guilty-pleasure pop music, motherhood -- but smiling in photographs is not one of them. She is notoriously poker-faced on the red carpet, which hs earned her a reputation for being something of a grump. But as she proved during her Apr. 28 event at the Vogue Festival in London, she can actually be quite charming.

Speaking to the audience about her ever-growing fashion empire, her famous family, and how she juggles both on a daily basis, the married mom of four was witty, unguarded -- even self-deprecating. "I'm nice! Everyone thinks I'm going to be a cow," she quipped. "I understand it, actually. I think the same when I see the pictures."

World-famous pout aside, the former Spice Girl -- stylish as ever in a gray calf-length skirt and taupe blouse with matching gray cuffs -- insisted that she's just like any other working woman. But she admitted that she can be particular about certain things. "I'm a perfectionist," she explained. "I like everything to be right. I'm probably a complete pain in the neck to work with. It is really important to me because I've grown [my clothing] brand from nothing to where it is now."

Doing so, she said, took a lot of hard work and perseverance. "At the beginning, there were a lot of raised eyebrows, from those who could raise their eyebrows," she told the audience. "There were a lot of preconceptions, but I didn't set out to prove them wrong. I set out to prove to myself that I could do it. When I started, I did one-on-one presentations. I'd talk for hours to people who didn't even speak English. I think a lot of people probably thought, 'Shut up, stop going on about a bloody grosgrain waistband!' But I'm really grateful to the industry."

She's also grateful to her team, which includes a nanny for her four children, Brooklyn, 14, Romeo, 10, Cruz, 8, and Harper, 21 months. (Dad is soccer player David Beckham.) "I've got great people who handle my schedule," she explained. "Everything does revolve around the children. If there's a parents' night or an Easter bonnet parade or a nativity play, whatever it might be, then I plan everything around that."

"I don't know how I do it," she said. "It is a juggling act...I am also up late because I have a baby and a 14-year-old who refuses to go to bed. So I don't get as much sleep as I would maybe like."

That said, she wouldn't trade the time with her children for anything. "I really enjoy being a mum. I love [my children] and I'd do anything for them," she said. "I also love what I do. I think anyone who says it's easy is lying."

PSY's new single

In the genteel suburb of Gangnam, it is next to impossible to escape the chubby grinning face of Korea's most famous son.

Here he is on a television set in a restaurant, wearing a red dinner jacket, cuddling a packet of Shin Ramen "Black Cup" spicy beef noodles to his face.

On the next poster, he has switched to a green dinner jacket for his £2 million annual contract to advertise South Korea's favourite tipple, Jinro Soju.

Ever since Gangnam Style went viral, with more than 1.5 billion views on YouTube alone, PSY has been tirelessly riding his celebrity.

Today came the next step in his quest for world domination, a sell-out concert to 50,000 odd people in Seoul's World Cup Stadium, and the first performance of his new single, Gentleman.Released over the internet this week, the song, which revolves around the unfathomable chorus "Mother Father Gentleman!" went straight to the top of the charts in Seoul.

It also quickly overshadowed the tensions with North Korea on local news bulletins, although PSY did say he hoped his music would make everyone, even North Koreans, laugh.

To delirious screams, PSY emerged on stage just before 7pm, wearing a black leather matador's jacket with gold sequinned shoulders, and shouting "Go Crazy! Hit it! Bounce! Bounce!"

"It is an honour to have the whole country's attention for my new song," he said. "Lots of people love Gentleman, and honestly I don't care if it doesn't do well - I'm happy listening to the screams of this stadium now."

"You don't want to be in a seat at a PSY concert," said Seung Yeon Chung, a 25-year-old graduate student and Gangnam resident. "You want to feel the energy and dance!"

For months, a special team inside PSY's record label has been carefully crafting his follow up, trying to make a record that would be similar enough to please the hordes who loved Gangnam Style, but sufficiently different to feel fresh to his fan base.

The result has not quite satisfied either camp. "Whatever he did was going to be under huge public scrutiny," said Sung Yoon Park, the owner of the Square Garden Cafe in Seorae Village."But it is true that it sounds the same."

But in Gangnam, PSY's appeal has always rested not just in how his songs sound, but in what dance he would invent to go alongside them.

Tonight, it turned out that dance was a "Korean-style" bum shake that rivals the Macarena.

"On the first listen, it seemed not as cool as Gangnam Style, but with the same sort of repetitive beat. But then I listened to it three or more times, and I am getting a little bit addicted," said Miss Chung.

"The thing about PSY is that he is quite a visual artist. So the dance is important. I started buying his music because it was so different to all the other Korean pop.

"And then I started dancing it in the playground at school. And I am still dancing it now."
